What's happening?

Starting March 1, 2020, a new bag waste reduction law will take effect in New York State.

What do you need to know?

A state-wide ban takes effect in New York on March 1st 2020. Any business that collects state taxes are banned from using singles-use, non-biodegradable plastic bags.  There are a few business exemptions that can be found here

New York state has started a campaign aimed at consumers called Bring York Own Bag - #BYOBagNY. They are promoting for consumers to step up and help the environment by using reusable bags and encourage retailers to have reusable bags for sale.

    • Low VOC inks and soy/vegetable-based inks
    • Reusable bag options including cotton, PE and PP (woven and non-woven)
    • Paper alternatives such as bamboo
